Rare snow in Languedoc, 2002

When to visit

Each season has its own attractions in Languedoc.

Although Languedoc is never as busy as other parts of the Mediterranean, the school holiday periods are the most busy.  European school holidays start in June and generally finish in August. Certainly the months of July and August are the busiest.

The weather in July and August can be uncomfortably hot with inland temperatures over 40C (105F). The winter period can have the occasional wet spell although rarely more than for a couple of days at a time.

The best times to visit Languedoc are April to mid June, and September, particularly if you intend strenuous activity. At these times there are few other tourists and temperatures are comfortable.
