Restaurant Review - La Grange de Labahou

This has to be my favourite restaurant in the South of France.

Isabel and Frank moved down here from the Alsace region - bought Les Terraces d'Anduze restaurant right by the pont submersible in Anduze - lost it in the floods of 2002 and then bought this barn directly from the Anduze mairie - and did it up.

It's a beautiful large airy building with a mezzanine which is ideal for small business meetings (in fact I used to run the BritsNimes bookclub there.)

There's a large open fireplace for Winter days and in the Summer the terrace is superb.  Wooden slatted flooring under shade - surrounded by lemon trees and palms - all overlooking a huge bassin full of trout and bordered with the biggest bamboo you've ever seen (all fenced in and safe for kids).

Once a month they hold a special evening - centered around a theme - creole nights with live music - Italian food nights - special Valentines day menus and a St Sylvestre (31st December) menu.

The main dining room is decorated with taste - huge heavy wooden tables - tables spaced apart with dried flower arrangements and beautiful candles and pottery.

There is always a specials board for starters, main and desserts and the main menu too.
3 courses is Euro21.  Lunchtime plat du jour Euro9.
No pichets of wine - only bottles - although they will serve you a glass.

Often they have home made madeleines a volontee to go with your coffee... very dangerous and obviously full of honey.

All the food here is fresh - nothing is frozen and is all home made.

Recommended for a special birthday dinner - or a Summer's evening sitting outside.

Directions: Leave Anduze following direction St Jean du Gard.  (i.e. DON'T cross the river) After 3 minutes of driving you'll pass a poterie and then come to a small roundabout.
Turn left here and drive down the avenue of trees (there is a zone industrial to your left don't turn into here.)
The stone building at the end of this boulevard is the restaurant.

    Parking right outside.

Highchairs available - easily accessible for wheelchairs - toilets for the disabled.
Closed Tuesday night and all day Wednesdays
